Ayurveda & Nevada Law
Ayurveda is not a licensed medical system in the United States of America. The Nevada legislature allows for Ayurveda to be practiced as an unlicensed alternative healing system under Nevada Revised Statute (NRS) 629.580 as Wellness Services with strict guidelines for the scope of practice. In the state of Nevada, only a physician or health care provider licensed by the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners may legally practice medicine in Nevada.
For this reason, Ayurvedic physicians and practitioners are not legally permitted to give Ayurvedic medical advise, offer diagnosis, or treat illness or disease within the scope of their practice, or to pose as licensed Ayurvedic (or other) physicians.
Nevada Revised Statute (NRS) 629.580 also applies to Naturopathic doctors and other wellness service providers as listed within the statute who are offering wellness services and conducting business in the State of Nevada.
