Ayurveda is a profound system of healing that targets the root cause of illness and disease. In western medicine, it is widely agreed that 90% of illness results from external causes, and 10% produced by the body. Ayurveda teaches the opposite in that 90% of illness results from imbalances of the bodily doshas (Vata, Pitta, and Kapha) and the mind. According to Ayurveda, 10% of illness and disease results from external factors.
This is a very profound difference in healing philosophy and an important reason for why Ayurveda is extremely effective in treating chronic illnesses. The medical model of Ayurveda is like no other found on our planet. The concept of bodily Dosha is unique to Ayurveda which serves as a guide for modalities such as Oriental Medicine, Greek Medicine, and elements of Homeopathy.
To heal our bodies and minds we must accept full responsibility for our actions, lifestyles, eating habits, thoughts, and respect for our own self. We must love our own self completely for healing to take place. The right environment for healing must be created to provide a loving and quiet space, good wholesome organic foods, fresh water, loving relationships, a healthy connection to nature, and an organized mind.
